Homework Policy:
I usually like to give my students time to start and work on their assignments in class. Any assignments that are not finished in class will be sent home as homework. I believe that assignments are very important to reinforce skills or content areas that we are learning about. It is important for your child to complete his or her homework each night. I also believe that cooperation between the parent, child, and teacher is VERY important in order for the best learning to occur. Comments or questions about any homework should be directed to me for further explanation. You are your child’s first and best teacher. Be sure to be an active part of your child’s sixth grade learning experience. I will try my best to update students' homework assignments daily on my classroom website. Students receive a late grade for assignments not returned on time. Starting the day after the assigned due date, ten percentage points will be taken off for each day the assignment is not returned. After an assignment is one week late, it will no longer be accepted, and the student will receive a zero. I will be contacting you if your child is not completing assignments.
*I understand that unexpected things can occur such as a family emergency or an illness. So if something like this occurs and keeps your child from completing his/her homework, please let me know through a note or phone call so your child can be given additional time.
